I am more excited about this line of new wedding details than I EVER have been before! :) Why? Because I’ve poured my heart and brainpower into these lovely details and am thrilled to be releasing them today! I’ve always appreciated details at weddings that aren’t too serious, that have a story and that can be translated back into “real life” beyond a wedding day! :) And that is what EVERY one of these products are! YAY!

I am most excited about those chair signs and big state pillows! I mean, right!? :) Who doesn’t want to kiss their new husband or wife while sitting on chairs adorned in these cute, gold-glittered chair signs at their reception?! :) AND who doesn’t want a giant state shaped pillow in their new living room?! :)
I plan to go more in depth about each product as this month unfolds, but for now…..the brand new 2013 FALL product line is up and I’m thrilled! :)
WAHOOO! :) It’s here, it’s here…….I’m finally able to announce what many hours of working, sketching, sewing, ripping, re-sewing and ideating have come to!
As many of you know, I am a maker and sewer at heart….I LOOOOOOVE (and thrive) when I am able to get behind my sewing machine during one of Zeke’s naps and let my heart (and hands) wander. Sometimes I’m working on something specific (like a beach bag for this summer or a sun hat for Zeke), other times I’m just sewing things together and seeing what I come up with (like that time I made those plush cameras…..still one of my favorite creations) and other times I am working towards a vision of mine. This was one of the latter. I had a specific vision. A specific vision for weddings. To bring some textiles (meaningful textiles) to a wedding day. Not just your typical DIY items (although I DO love easy DIY projects)…I wanted these to be whimsical and thoughtful….to fill opportunity for great details in a few specific spots on a wedding day! I wanted a story behind these items! :)
I know that it’s a small line (and believe-you-me do I have more ideas for the FALL and WINTER and next SPRING) but I had to keep in manageable as I start to tread the waters of retail sales. And I’ve even had a few people pick up certain items for wholesale too…so you may even be seeing some of these whmisical creations at your local boutique shops (all over the nation. YAY!) So, here you have it folks……the EMILY STEFFEN 2013 SPRING TEXTILE WEDDING LINE! :)
I’ve always been excited about color and imagery…..for me, it’s not only photographs and beautiful brides and framing in camera and details and wedding day emotions, but I also have a HUGE passion for textiles! For sewing pillows, rugs, and baby toys, and designing quilts, fabric and home goods! :) I would like to blame it on the creativity that my Mom surrounded me with: bolts of fabric, jars of buttons and idea after idea that ran through her sewing machine and on her doodle book pages. It was awesome as a kid….I felt like I was empowered to MAKE anything that I ever dreamed of. I remember a book project for 4th grade (ya know, the literature project of writing, illustrating and publishing your first little book)…I came home and started recreating my book in fabric pages (like the little kids plush books that I had seen my younger cousins have). It was some story about a ladybug and giraffe….pretty cute for a 4th grader (and I was quite proud of it, I might add)! :)
So, this leads me to today….I feel like my voice in both of these “worlds” (both photography and textiles) gives me something that I need for my creativity as an artist! :) I am just in the beginning stages of this textile world and I have MUCH to learn about retail and selling patterns and selling goods, but I’m LOVING it so far! :) I’ve been able to launch 2 patterns and sell endless plush cameras, toys and other goods online! :) And this week is IT…..more patterns and more ideas to celebrate birthday week! :) I have endless things up my sleeve that we’ll be releasing every day! :) YAY!
YES…it’s birthday week. Today is my amazing husband’s birthday and on Saturday is my birthday (we LOVE having birthdays in the same week because it gives us a reason to celebrate for a whole week straight)! :) Right?
