Meet Ms. Emily Koska (and Mike too! :)

I had the chance to head up to Fargo, North Dakota for a quick day trip to meet and spend the day with the talented Ms. Emily Koska! :) She is a wedding photographer that has HUGE dreams, hopes and aspirations in her area…and her ball is ROLLING and rolling steadily! From day-time nurse to dreaming big for her photography world, Emily has hopes, goals and talents that will crush the market around Fargo (so if you’re looking for a wedding photographer…hint, hint)!

This girl has a SHEER and unhindered passion for weddings! She realized soon after her wedding day had come and gone that it was SUPER necessary to stay connected to the wedding world and combine her love for photography! She worked her tail off, interned, hustled, shot, shot, shot and launched her business. She’s been shooting ever since and craved a fresh perspective for some advice for her business. We spent the day talking, shooting, critiquing, questioning, sharing and laughing together! It sure was WONDERFUL! :) We both walked away with some new ideas, a gained perspective and a new friendship! :) So friends, watch this girl….she’s making thing happen in Fargo! :)

Our little (snowy) world…

Dear baby Zeke! :)

One of the thing that I LOVE about being your Mommy, and never expected to, is being able to introduce you to the world! :) Feeding you new foods, teaching you how to pet the pugs, showing you how to jump on Daddy and wake him up, or seeing and experiencing snow for the first time….those things that make our world “OUR WORLD”! :) I look back on my world with Grandma and Grandpa….learning how to load the wood-stove with Grandpa so that we’d have heat at night in our tiny little house, Grandma teaching me how to use a sewing machine so that I could start to sew treasures and what our little family vacations meant (usually that involved a lot of fishing with Grandpa and doodling with Grandma, but that’s a whole different story!) :)

As a Mommy, I have the opportunity to help shape our world as a family! To show you what family times means, to have regular meals around the table, to color and draw with you and read books and walk the pugs and run outside and garden….to start shaping what OUR WORLD looks like as a family! :) It’s pretty cool! :) I pray every day that those moments of “firsts” teach you…teach you about shape and color and texture…but more importantly about values and ideals. About how to stand up for yourself. About how to react in certain situations. How to love and have compassion. And how to trust in God for everyday! :)

Yay for snow and yay for amazing little boys, like you, that show Mommys, like me, what life’s little moments are really all about! :) I LOVE YOU EZEKIEL! :)

From this weekend! :)

What a weekend! :) We had another AMAZING group of photographers at the Minneapolis Photo Center to learn and shoot together, it was awesome! :)

I find teaching to be EXTREMELY humbling! To think that I have ANYTHING worth teaching is humbling in of itself, but I find that every single time I meet someone new to share about my business, I always walk away changed myself. You see, I’ve always been an external processor (you can ask my husband :) so processing branding and marketing and the nuts-and-bolts of being an entrepreneur out loud always leaves me changed. It challenges me and it forces me to think and re-think all of my strategies! :) And I like that! I like that being a business owner is fluid…that there are no “rules”! (Well maybe according to the IRS, there are..but that is besides the point)! :) I like that many of us can own the same “kind” of business and approach it differently and operate in it differently. Maybe that’s the artist in me that enjoys seeing other successes in different patterns! :)

And this weekend was one of those weekends….I walked away thinking and rethinking some new ideas and some new strategies! I have some new goals (THANKS JEFF!) and I have about 47,000 ideas running through my head about this 2013 year! :) Some about being a mom, some about being a photographer, some about being a textile artist, some about being a wife and a friend and a daughter-in-law…the list goes on…

SO needless to say, it was a great weekend! And it was full of some ideas of change! I hope everyone else there had just as much fun and learned just as much as I did! :)

PS…..Isn’t Lisa, of Johnny and Dottie, just amazing (AHHMMMAAAZING) at her concepts?! I mean, I think we all about died after shooting Gabby and Ben and their fabulous details! :)
